Welcome to the web site of First Baptist church located in Walton, KY.  It is our desire that as look through the various ministries of our church that you will be blessed and challenged to find a church home.  We would be honored to have you visit us.  Just like any other church, we are not a perfect church, but we do represent a perfect Savior.

We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired Word of God and that it is our responsibility to share and proclaim the truth of God's Word.  In First Corinthians chapter one, Paul says "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but unto us who are saved it is the power of God."
I am reminded of what Byron Paulus of Life Action Revival Ministry said and I quote: "Preaching has fallen on hard times?..A generation that has been nursed on rapid fire television programs, action-packed video games, and sound byte news reports is likely to have a hard time staying awake when the minister asks the congregation to open their Bibles to the book of Leviticus, or announces that he will be preaching a series on the meaning of justification. Dr. Martyn Llloyd-Jones believed that ?preaching is the highest and most glorious calling to which anyone can ever be called.' I wonder how many people believe that today."  He goes on to say "There is nothing common about preaching.  That's because there is nothing common about our message, and preaching is the means God has given to us to deliver that message.  Preaching is central to seeing lives truly changed.  It is essential to igniting and sustaining the fire of God in revival."

The President of Southern Seminary, Dr. Al Mohler, Jr. recently stated that "A subtle shift visible at the onset of the twentieth century has become a great divide as the century ends. The shift from expository preaching to more topical and human-centered approaches has grown into a debate over the place of Scripture in preaching, and the nature of preaching itself."  Dr. Mohler and many others agree that even though ?preaching has fallen on hard times" it is still the central message of the cross that transforms.  Most modern day preaching that focus on ?a feel good' mentality will not and is not sufficient for the real heart-felt needs of modern day society.  Join us at FBC as we strive to maintain the centrality of preaching.  Preaching may have fallen on hard times, but all of us agree with the apostle Paul - "..the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but unto us who are saved it is the POWER of God."

Thanks to all who helped make OFD '08 a wonderful day of outreach and ministry.

Thanks to all who ?are not ashamed of the Gospel' and are faithful to visit in homes, hospitals and everywhere sharing the ?message of the cross'.

Thanks to all who by their lives, their attitude and the words of their mouth demonstrate a positive outlook of praise and faithfulness to the ongoing ministry of First Baptist Church.

God bless you as together we serve the Lord.

Because of Calvary,
Bro. Hale   Ps. 16:11

Don't forget our church wide Thanksgiving supper on Saturday, Nov. 22nd.  I would like to challenge everyone to bring ?pennies' for our "Mile of Pennies" thanksgiving offering for the Sunrise Children's Home.
