I was recently asked the following question, "What is your philosophy of ministry?" In pondering this question, I have decided to share my personal insights that shape my leadership decisions, and are the heartbeat I have for our church. At FBC, we desire to build the Kingdom of God in the way that He has ordained in His word. One of the many themes in the Bible is that of "Journey" and the fact that the Christian Life Is a Journey. John 14:4-6 "You know the way to the place where I am going." 5 Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" 6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Here are some thoughts concerning this ?journey' of the Christian.
Therefore, We seek?
Our philosophy of ministry strives to bring together the individual journey of sanctification (Internal Journey) with the corporate journey of mission (External Journey). We believe these two only happen in cooperation with each other. We place a strong emphasis on the ministry of the Word of God. We desire to build people up and give them opportunities to serve the Lord, using their spiritual gifts to grow the church. We want to put the transforming power of the gospel on display on Sundays during our worship services, and throughout the week. We believe in placing a strong emphasis on the family, encouraging fathers to lead their families Biblically; encouraging husbands and wives to relate to each other in the pattern of Christ and His church; encouraging parents to train their children up for the present and future glory of Christ. We also believe in the value of small groups such as Sunday school, mission organizations, children's ministries in order to develop deeper relationships around the Word of God, praying for each other, and in service to Christ. Our Leadership Team (Church Council) is evaluating the various areas of ?how we do church' in order to fulfill our basic philosophy of ministry. We are evaluating the areas of evangelism, assimilation, stewardship, small groups and ministry involvement. To see where we've been, see where we are, we will better be able to know where we need to be going so that we may do an even better job of being a Great Commission Church. Together, we can accomplish His will and do His work for His glory. Working together we strive to build "A Fellowship of Joy" through the "ministry of encouragement!" Because of Calvary, |
