One of the most unique and beloved parable in the Bible is the one found in Luke chapter 8. It is the parable of the sower of the seed and it has profound lessons for us to learn.

Jesus said that the seed is the Word of God and it is to be given to the world.  Some of the seed will fall by the wayside, some on the rocks, some among thorns, but others will fall on good ground.  Jesus is helping us to understand that we are to be faithful in sharing the word, and not to become discouraged when some people do not respond nor receive the word of truth.  But to remain faithful to the task because there are those who will hear and receive the 'seed' of the gospel and will trust Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

OFD:  On Saturday, September 8th, we will have a unique opportunity to sow seeds of the gospel to thousands of people who will 'invade' the city of Walton for Old Fashion Day.

The 'Oasis' will again be open to receive people who desire a cool place to relax, rest and receive kool-aid and cookies.  The bouncing gym will be open for the smaller children to enjoy while mom/dad is resting.

In the field on the north side of the sanctuary we will be having an exciting block party atmosphere.  There will be two inflatable's for kids as well as Christian music being played in the background for all to enjoy.  Other activities such as Creative Ministry team presentations, snow cones, cotton candy, face painting and other activities will be available.

There will be drawings for the various give away items that will be given on this day.  Bibles, tracts and small 'fans' will be provided free to everyone who desires one.

What does this mean to you and me??  It means we will all have to pitch in to help make this possible.  We will need much prayer, financial assistance and personal involvement in order to ?sow' the seed of the gospel to people who need Jesus.  We will need volunteers to man the tables, register the kids, serve the cookies and kool-aid, set us and take down tables, and share their Christian faith.

During Old Fashion Day, let's be 'seed sowers' of the word of God, praying for the harvest of souls coming to the Savior.

Let's do it for Jesus' sake,
   Bro. Hale, Ps. 16:11
