Pastors Life

The year 2007 was a year beyond description.  There are no words that can adequately describe all of the emotions and events of this past year.  The only thing a person can do is to give thanks to our Heavenly Father for His goodness and His grace that was sufficient for each and every event.  The song writer expressed it like this:  "There are many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand, but I know who holds tomorrow and I know HE holds my hand."

On Sunday, Dec. 16th the Church voted overwhelmingly to adopt the new 2008 Budget for the Church year.  This is the largest budget ever adopted by FBC.

I appreciate the hard work of the Budget/Finance Ministry Team (Donnie Boyars-Chairman, Dr. J. M. Huey, Genene Lyons, Kay Atkinson, Tony Fish, Rick McNeese, Vicky Weaver, Barry Napier, Barry Woods-Treasurer and J. B. McCubbin-Assistant Treasurer) as they put in long hours to present to us this budget for our Church.  This Budget is a very challenging GOAL for us to accomplish and it will require all of us as members of FBC to do our part.

  1. The Bible is clear that the tithes belong to the Lord and when we are obedient to Him, He has promised to take care of us and to provide for His Church.
  2. We can give designated gifts through the church such as the 100 % Club which is an item that goes directly to pay on the loan of our church.  It was originally called the 100 Club and several years ago the Stewardship Team decided to call it the 100 % Club to remind people that all of it goes toward the loan.
  3. Recently the church was challenged to give toward the '141 Project' which was:  Shingling the roof, removing and relocating the bus garage and redoing the parking lot.  Over $23,000.00 was given for that project.  You may still give to the '141 Project' which will be used just like the 100 % Club to pay directly on the principle of the Church loan.

Yes, God is doing great things through His people here at First Baptist Church.

Over the years we have sought to build "a Fellowship of Joy", but for many of us it has become "a Fellowship of Encouragement" and I thank you for all that you say and do to encourage the hearts of God's people to grow, serve and love the Lord with all of our heart, soul and mind.  God bless you as together we build a "fellowship of Joy" through a ministry of encouragement.

Because of Calvary,  Bro. Hale, Ps. 16:11
