August 2007

The Bible says:  "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."  I am excited with the sense of excitement and 'liberty' in doing the work and will of God here at FBC.  The spiritual atmosphere and excitement among the people here at FBC is at an all time high and for this I give thanks to Him who is worthy of our praise.

"141 Acts of Kindness":  I wish you could read over my shoulder all of the creative ways people are "showing YOU God's love in a practical way".  It is my prayer that even when this "141 Acts of Kindness" emphasis is over (August 12th) that the spirit of love and kindness will continue to be shown in practical and meaningful ways to a lost and dying world.

141 Project:  As part of our "141 Acts of Kindness" many S.S. classes are collecting 141 pennies, nickels, dimes, etc in order to give to the 141 project.  Already, church members have given $14,832.74 (Monday, July 16th) toward our goal of $160,000.00.  At this present time workers are on the roof tearing off the old shingles and replacing them with new ones.  Other aspects of the projects are redoing the parking lot, and the relocation of the bus garage.   If you would like to give to this project, designate it on your offering envelop as "141 Project".  Remember that this is an offering that is over and above your regular tithes to the work of God through the Church.

Old Fashion Day, September 8th:
Each year we try to visualize how we can have a greater involvement and ministry to the thousands who attend OFD.  This year YOU will have an opportunity to become a part of the team that can literally influence the hearts of people toward the kingdom of God.

We will again have the "OASIS" open for people to come for a time to cool off with cookies and Kool-Aid while they are resting and enjoying the many activities of OFD.  This year we are expanding our ministry with a 'giant' block party located on the grounds next to the church auditorium.  It will be much like the block party we had during our VBS parent's night.  This means we will need volunteers to help with the popcorn, snow cones, and cotton candy machines.  We will need volunteers for face painting, balloon art, table set up, registrations and other activities.  We will need your prayers, financial assistance and personal involvement in order to have a spiritual impact upon the thousands who come to Walton, KY for OFD.  Also, pray for our 'float' team as they put together another winning presentation based upon the OFD theme "Preserving Walton's History".

Yes, where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is power, joy and great liberty
